We really appreciate all of the help. Last time we posted a blog we had a date set up to babysit. Unfortunately it didn’t end up working out. We’re trying to set up another date to babysit right now and have a few people who we have in mind that we could help. While we work on reaching out to these people to ask if they would like us to babysit we are going to start working on our presentation. On April 19th our class is hosting a presentation about all of our projects in front of the community. Anyone can come and we would like to invite you to attend too! You can find more information about the presentation on our Instagram @helpingh4nds. As we keep working on setting up dates it would be great if you guys could help spread the word about our project! 3/2/2018 0 Comments Blog 9Hey guys, welcome back! I know we haven’t been posting for a while but we have been trying to plan out some things recently. We have set up another day for babysitting next week. The childrens parents usually have to work late, so that leaves them home alone or with their grandma so once we let the parents know about our project they were happy to let us help. This weekend we were going to try and plan something out however I have a sports tournament all weekend so I will not be able to participate in the plans. This week we also met with our supervising teacher that is looking over or project. We checked in with him to make sure we are on the correct path with our project and he helped us get some new ideas about how to further reach out to people. We look forward to helping out new people and thanks to everyone who has been coming back to our website each week!
2/2/2018 0 Comments Blog 8This week we have helped another family. While a mom was at work her babysitter canceled last minute and was in need of some help. We went to pick her daughter up from daycare and then watched her until her mom got off work and was able to pick her up. We have also decided to begin using hashtags to draw attention to our project. This will help us find more people to help. Our goal has changed to helping at least 10 families by the end of our project. Each family that we have helped so far has been amazing to help. We are very excited to help more people and to make a difference in the community. As our project has progressed we have run into many different obstacles like schedules and time. We have also run into the difficulty of getting the word out and informing people about our project. However we are finally learning how to get around these obstacles.
1/26/2018 0 Comments Blog 7 Since our last blog we have all memorized a speech. This speech is going to help us out tremendously when trying to spread the word about our project. The speech lasts about 30 seconds and is all about informing very busy people about our project when they may not have enough time to stop and talk for more than a minuet. We tried out the speech on our peers and got timed to make sure it was about 30 seconds. We are also going to try new methods to help us spread the word instead of just using the website and our speech. By using different hashtags on our Instagram we can attract a noticeably greater number of followers who can then spread the word. So far in our project we have run into the major obstacle of getting the word out but we want to remind everyone we are still out here helping. 1/12/2018 0 Comments Blog 6It is officially the beginning of a new year which means for our group that we have new goals and challenges. I have set a personal goal of trying to reach out to more people and tell them about our group. This will be made easier by learning our elevator pitch. A elevator pitch is a 30 second speech about our project that we can use to quickly tell people about our project. Over our break from school we helped another family. They had a new years eve party and had us help clean up their basement and re arrange some things for them. I also want to set a goal for our group to help more people. It has taken us a while to figure out all of the details of our project and now our focus is set on helping. We all have a few people that we are reaching out to right now that we think would be interested in out help.
12/1/2017 0 Comments Blog 5This week our group has not had time to do very many things. However we have been able to clean a house. We went to the house and helped them pack up boxes and get organized for moving. They needed lots of help because they have 3 kids and a bunch of toys. We spent 2 hours at the house bubble wrapping, packing, cleaning, and organizing the house. It was a very good experience and we learned that when we go to houses we need to set a limit on how long we are there. This will prevent us from overworking and getting hurt and will also make sure that people are not taking advantage of what we are trying to do. This weekend I am going to a house that I know has two lovely kids. The parents are very busy so I plan to tell them about our project and what we are doing. Hopefully they will see it as a great opportunity and let us help them with babysitting.
11/10/2017 0 Comments Blog 4This week we have overcome many obstacles. Last week it was hard to find dates that worked for all of us but we now have a set date. This Sunday we are going to help someone clean out their house so they can move. We are working to find more dates that we can help people on. Some goals for next week are to have at least 3 dates set up for us to go and help people. So far we haven’t gotten to help people like we wanted to because we have been trying to get everything organized. This would be setting up the social media accounts to reach out to people and filtering through all of the comments to see what ones are people asking for help and what ones are offering supplies and support. 11/3/2017 0 Comments Blog 3This week we created different social media accounts to help spread the word about helping hands. We made a Instagram @helpingh4nds. Through our Instagram we made our first post and explained what we are trying to do. We also make a Facebook page Helping Hands and also posted to explain what we are doing. From our Facebook page we have gotten a lot of positive feedback. We have people saying they will help us if we need any supplies or help. We also have people saying that they would like us to help them. Because so many people are wanting us to help them we are currently trying to contact all of them and set up dates that would work with both them and us. This is creating some difficulty because my team mates and I have different schedules but we are all working hard to find dates that work.
10/30/2017 0 Comments Blog 2In this past week we haven’t had much time to work on our project. We hadn’t gotten to get to gather to work on it because of conflicting sports schedules after school. Last week we found out how we want to make our video. At our church they make videos for announcements all the time and they have agreed to help us make ours. We plan on making the video mid time this week on Wednesday or on Sunday. This week we are going to work extra hard to find families that we can help. We are also going to make a video about helping hands to post on our social media and on our website. By making this video people will be able to spread the word of what we are trying to do. This will also help us find people that need help.

The purpose of the website is to give weekly updates and answer questions about Helping Hands and give out information to the public about how to contact us for our services. We started Helping Hands as our 20 Time Project in English. We think of an idea that can benefit the community and think of a plan to execute it. Helping Hands is targeted to help people when they need babysitting and when they need help cleaning their houses. We chose to do this because we believe that it will benefit the community and help people in their everyday lives. If you are interested in babysitters or helping hands around the house then visit our contact page and fill out a form! We would love to help you and your family. Please leave the area that you are in so we know how far away you are from us and we can adjust accordingly. We do not ask to be payed any money for babysitting or cleaning houses. We chose to do make our helping hands a non profit organization and we created it to help out the community. We hope to have a big impact on the community and the families inside the community. I am really looking forward to babysitting the kids because I know it will benefit the family that I babysit for.
